Sheetrock is another term used for drywall. Some also refer to it as wallboard or plasterboard. There are some key things to always keep in mind when hanging drywall. For example, you want to make sure seams are at least 8 inches away from any light fixtures on the ceiling where you’re hanging drywall. Also, you want to make sure the staggered seams offsets are 4 feet apart. You also do not want any seams to line up with the window or any corners. There are also many different types of drywall where the outside corner beads vary in how they look. Don’t worry, Lancaster Drywall Contractors will take all the worry of determining which drywall is appropriate for your project for you.

Planning is key to a professional job. We properly measure and cut drywall for your ceiling or sidewall. It’s important to measure out from a corner and use the right tools. After cutting drywall, we cover the ceiling with it. This process is a lot harder than it sounds. Drywall can be heavy but then having to precisely place the drywall especially in hard to reach places like a ceiling can be very awkward which causes a lot of mistakes. If you don’t know what to look for or how to handle the drywall it can indeed be frustrating.

Drywall hanging also involves trimming around doors and windows. This again requires more special tools such as using a rotary cut-out tool. A lot of customers come to us after having attempted to hang their own drywall and failing. Or after realizing the investment requires a lot more than just buying drywall and a few screws. There are so many ancillary tools necessary during each step of the process. Don’t worry, we love when folks come to us after making DIY efforts. If you find yourself in this position, have no shame! We like working with people who have made DIY drywall installation or repair attempts because there often is a better sense of appreciation for our work. Plus, we love educating our clients too as we’re passionate about what we do. Call us today for a free drywall installation cost estimate at 717-470-8938
